The end of vistors (for now) and the beginning of smiling and head butts.

Tuesday ended our chain of visitors for awhile. Sara and her "old man" Jason came to meet Ike all the way from not-so-sunny San Fran. We all enjoyed yummy food (made by Sara and Jason), a small BBQ on July 4th at our friend Greg's house, loads of poopy and peepee diapers, crying at our favorite Mexican restaurant (Isaac, not the rest of us, though it was close), and the newly aware-of-the-world Isaac. It was loads of fun. We all loved Jason (which is lucky for him b/c I've been known to scare away the bad boyfriends of friends before. Well, at least I have tried to scare them off. I can be scary.). And Isaac loved Auntie Sara, of course! When they left they did the dishes, the laundry, the garbage (I just discovered) AND made banana bread! Amazing.

It's been really fun to see Isaac start to smile and laugh over these last few days. He was more alert today then any other day. He was awake for almost the entire day and didn't really cry until tonight, and we think that was out of total exhaustion. Normally when he is awake he spends a good deal of that time fussing. We have our fingers crossed that he has turned a corner. Today was a fun day for Ike and me.

Sleep has also gotten a bit better, (meaning 3.5-5 hours stretches) which we know doesn't mean it will continue, but we can hope! (please please please keep sleeping, little guy!)

The head butts have been coming from his new found ability to hold his head up, but not for too long. Hence the head butting. It's pretty funny. We're trying to catch in on video.

In Isaac Medical News: acid reflux is the disease of the day
Isaac has acid relfux that is bad enough that I had to bring him to the ER a few weeks back b/c he spit up and choked at 8am, 3 hours after eating. The ER wasn't all that helpful and he was fine once we got there but our doctor watched him after he ate and noticed that he gets some pretty painful aches and wasn't happy about it. The acid in his belly has made him pretty fussy. He now has to be on baby zantac (which I really hate, drugging a baby makes me very uncomfortable) and he has to sleep on this crazy foam wedge. He's squeezed into it, belted in, and bundled up which actually sounds more cozy then it looks. This wedge thing is really more like a throne. Soon we will take a picture, we just keep forgetting. We got this beautiful and fun hand knitted blanket from Susan Banks that is helping to cover up the ugliness that is the foam. (Thanks Susan! We love it!)
Seems Isaac inherited his mother's belly issues. Poor, Poor Isaac.
